Page Level Compression–Performance Impact

There is a lot of material out there about the performance impact of compression in SQL Server.  Much like query tuning, your mileage may vary so the only way to be sure is to test.  My test results were very positive so I see no reason not to enable it for the instance in question.

Insert 10% performance increase
Update 67% performance increase
Select 9% performance increase
Delete 90% performance increase

Impact on performance in your case is very impressive sply for UPDATEs! I would like to understand the strategy/methodology you used plus if you have any scripts to capture metrics which you can share… that would be great. I interested in verify impact of compression on our OLTP DB system.

    Thanks
