Logging query output with Teradata SQL Assistant

It is often useful if not required to save the output of queries run against a production database.  Here is how to log the output using SQL Assistant 13.10.x:

1. Select Tools->Options

2. Select the Query tab.

Uncheck ‘Stop query execution if an SQL error occurs

3. Select the Export Tab.

Check ‘Write all exported answer sets to a single file’ as well as ‘Write the SQL and results status to the export file’

4.  To log results select File->Export Results.

5. Run a query and enter the path and filename when prompted.  By default the file will be named SQLAExport.txt.

select * from dbc.dbcinfo;

LANGUAGE SUPPORT MODE    Standard
